Cleaning up the beach

Two of my friends said they would give me $5 for each bag of rubbish I collect off the beach.  One friend paid for one bag, and the other said I could get 6 bags. I was excited that this would give me $35 to go to the children in the Philippines.  I love the beach and I have cleaned it up before so this was a really fun job.

I have collected six bags now, and still have one to go.  I did one hour after school on Thursday which was a cold, rainy afternoon, and then another hour and a half this morning.  Mum helped me both times, and this morning my friend who I'm raising the money to give to came to help too.

Total raised for this job: $30
Total raised so far: $32 (NZD)

Trying to be a Super Hero!

Hi, My name is Linc and I am six years old.  I live in New Zealand.

I love super heroes!  My favourite book is my super hero encyclopaedia and I know so many facts about each superhero and all their powers and abilities.  I'm just a boy but I try to be a super hero by helping people.  I care a lot about people.  When I hear about sad things happening or people being hurt or sick I always want to help.  I started raising money to help others when I was four by baking and selling biscuits.  This money went to pay for training guide dogs, and I did this the next year as well.  I give my pocket money to people with collection buckets, buskers or to buy lunch for someone who is hungry on the street.

I was five when Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines, and I really wanted to help.  I collected money for the Red Cross by standing with a collection bucket for two and a half hours.

I wanted to do more so I made some bubble wands and sold these.  With this money, I bought books for children in the Philippines and my friend (a grown up) took them over to children in Tacloban when she went to help there.

This friend, and another are going back to Tacloban and areas nearby to give more help to children.  They will be giving school stationery to lots of children who don't have any, and I thought about how I could give money to buy lots of supplies.  I decided I wanted to work for the money.  My Mum helped me to ask our friends and family to sponsor me to do jobs.

This blog will help me show the work I am doing and how I am raising my money.  Later I can show how it is used to help the children in the Philippines.  After this big project I will find another way to help others so I can just keep adding to this blog with all my acts of caring.
