3 ways to raise money at the fundraising fair

The fundraising fair was today and I had three different ways to raise money.

The first one was that I was sponsored to spend one hour working on a stall with my Mum and my Grandma.  I greeted people, got their money and gave change and put things in a bag.

The second way was by having my very own stall!  I was worried I wasn't going to meet my goal of $300 so I decided I wanted to make some crafts to sell at the fair.  I made some cards for birthdays and also some affirmation cards for children.  Mum has been helping me learn about affirmations because when you care a lot about people you also worry a lot and she thought they might help me feel less worried and believe in myself more.   I wanted to make some for other children so they could think positively about themselves too.

I had my own little table beside the other stall I was working on so I could do both at the same time.   I sold all of my things really quickly.

My third way was that I was sponsored to sell the cupcakes that I made with my friend.  I walked around with a basket and sold 11 of them.

It was a busy day but lots of fun and it was a lot of money to make in one day.

Money raised for these jobs:

1) Manning the stall - $20
2) My own stall and selling my cards - $34
3) Selling cupcakes - $11

Total for today - $65

Yay, I have more than $300

Preparing for a fair.

At my old Preschool (which is also where my Mum works), they are having a fair to make money for the children in the Philippines. The parents from the Preschool organised it, but I am also allowed to help and some of the help is being sponsored for my fundraising.

The day before the fair, my job was to make the posters for the different stalls.  My friend who is 12 made posters too and I also helped her fill some lolly bags.

The fair is going to be really exciting!

Washing Dad's bike

After Dad got back from his ride today his dirt bike was covered in mud.  I like to help him wash it and today he said I could do it all as one of my fundraising jobs.  I spent a long time cleaning all the mud off with the hose.

Another bag of beach rubbish

I collected another bag of rubbish of the beach.  Our friend sponsored me to do six bags and I only did five last time so I did one more this week.  We went to a new area of the beach and it had lots of rubbish.

I like to get plastic off the beach so it doesn't go into the sea and hurt the fish and sea creatures.  I like getting glass off the sand so little babies and children don't get cut by it.

Making a book

One of our friends asked me to write her a story as a job.  I like writing and I love drawing and so I really liked this idea.  She wanted a happy story so I chose to write about a carnival.  Usually I write about super heroes!

I wanted to do a good job so I spend a few days practicing my handwriting first.

When I was ready I wrote my story and I kept having ideas so it got longer and longer.  I wrote it slowly and carefully with Mum's help so my spelling was good, and then I did all the pictures.  We made it into a real book.

My story was about this friend and her boy, and me and my Mum all going to a carnival together.  We did lots of different activities and competitions and there were fireworks and we got home after midnight.

Looking after myself

One of our friends gave me a different kind of job.  She said that because caring people spend lots of time looking after other people they often forget about taking care of themselves.  Her job for me was to have a day where I just looked after me.

She asked me to do 10 minutes of my favourite physical activity, 10 minutes of meditation, and go to bed 10 minutes earlier.  I chose to do this on Saturday because it was a special family party day where we had 4 of my cousin's birthdays to celebrate.

I spent 10 minutes (and more) jumping on my cousin's trampoline.

I did my 10 minutes meditation in the car on the way home because we were more than two hours away.  I shut my eyes and just listened to music and thought of all the good things in my day.

I went to bed at least 10 minutes early, and that wasn't hard because I'd been running around a lot and playing and laughing with my cousins.

Wrapping presents

Tomorrow we are going to have a birthday celebration for 4 of my cousins.  Three of them had their birthday at the end of May and one of them has his birthday very soon.

I wrapped all of their birthday presents up.  I haven't done wrapping all by myself before but I've seen my Mum do it so I knew how.  It was fun!

Artwork for a special baby

I have a special baby friend and he needed some artwork for his bedroom.  His Mum asked me to make a picture on canvas for him.

I love drawing.  Usually I draw super heroes but because he is a baby I made a castle for him.

I drew with pastels.  I hope that he likes his artwork.

Planting seedlings

I went to my Mum's friends house and planting seedlings in their garden.  I went at 4 o'clock which is just after I finish school.

I planted lots of spinach.  I used to do lots of planting when I was at Preschool but haven't done any in a long time.

Being a Model

One of our friends is a photographer.  She said that she would give me a donation if I did some modelling for her.

We met at the beach and I climbed and played while she took photos.  I smiled for the camera some of the time but I get nervous doing this.  She can use these photos to show people how good she is at being a photographer.

My goal and some kindness

When I started my plan to raise money to help the children in the Philippines, I didn't know how much money I wanted to raise.  The most I have made before is $100 for guide dogs when I sold biscuits when I was five.

When I got to $100 for this project I decided my goal because I knew that lots of people were supporting me and I was working hard with my jobs.  I have decided I want to raise at least $300 (NZD) which should really help children and buy them lots of school supplies.

One of my Preschool friend's Mums said she didn't have a job for me but wanted to give me money for this because she thinks it's awesome what I am doing.  This is really kind of her.  I think that when you do kind things, other people do kind things too.

Looking after cousins and animals

Two of my Aunties gave me jobs to do.

For one of my Aunties I was in charge of pushing my baby cousin's pram when we went on a walk.

For another Auntie my jobs were to look after her animals.  I fed her birds, chickens and her dogs and then took one of her dogs for a walk.

Fixing Books

I am in a Montessori Primary classroom now I am six but I used to go to a Montessori Preschool.  One of my Preschool friend's Mum gave me a job to do.  She gave me 12 books that needed repaired and I had to carefully cellotape the pages back together.  This job was tricky because I wanted to make them look really good.

I got $2 for each book that I fixed.  That is $24 altogether.

Total raised so far: $84 (NZD)

Jobs for my family

Some of my family are giving me money to do jobs.  They know how much I want to help children in the Philippines.   I helped with cooking a meal at my Nana's and washed my Mum's car.

I made $28 doing these jobs.
