Stocking the Soup Kitchen's Kitchen

This morning we went to the supermarket to spend the $160 I raised for Soup Kitchen Wellington.  I had looked at their website and had a practice visit so I knew what sort of products I should buy.

I took my time to choose what I wanted, to get the best prices and to add everything up.

The trolley got so full I could hardly push it! It took me one hour to do all the shopping. I felt happy with my choices.

It was funny because we had added up everything to cost exactly $160 but when we went through the check out it was cheaper! We decided to give that to then in cash instead of going back into the shop.

We were going to go home after the shopping and go in to the Soup Kitchen tomorrow but the car was so full we decided to go straight away. At the Soup Kitchen everyone was very kind and they showed us where everything is cooked, where people sit and the store room.  They said I might want to come back and visit with my class and I really want to do that.

I hope that my food donation and the $24 cash donation can give food to lots of people who need it.

Helping the homeless

I have been busy with a new fundraising project.   I made a lot of crafts to sell to raise money for a Soup Kitchen in Wellington.  I always feel sad when I see homeless people when we go into the city and sometimes I use my pocket money to buy someone on the street some lunch.  I wanted to do some fundraising to help homeless people and so we looked at ideas and the Soup Kitchen feeds lots of people in Wellington who need help with food and so I decided to help them.  I chose to raise money to go and buy groceries to stock up their kitchen.

I made some craft kits like I've done before and also some magnets and notebooks.  Because caring is my super power I did lots of super hero crafts but I also did some Easter ones.  I was supposed to go to the same kind of Kids Market that I did for the Child Cancer Foundation but it got cancelled. My friend's Mum told us about another one and so that was a one hour kids market.

At the market I sold $50 worth of my crafts which was a lot in one hour.

I wanted to raise even more money though so my old Preschool, where I went for 3 years, said I could set up a table in the foyer there.  Lots and lots of the parents bought my crafts until I was all sold out!  In total I raised $160 for Soup Kitchen Wellington which was more than my goal of $150 so I am really happy.

My next job is to go to the supermarket and spend that money on food.  Mum has taken me into the supermarket to look around and start to choose what would be good to buy.  I am looking forward to the shopping trip, and then we will go into the soup kitchen to drop everything off.
