I was watching TV and I saw an ad for the 40 hour famine. It said that it was raising money for children in Bangladesh who don't have much food to eat. Lots of young children even die because they have not enough food. I told Mum I wanted to do it. She thought maybe I was a bit young but I was determined. Because I am 7, I did the 20 hour famine. I chose to not eat for that time as I wanted to know what it can be like for children to be really hungry.
I was allowed juice, water and some barley sugar lollies but nothing else for the 20 hours.
We asked some of our friends and family to sponsor me. I hoped to raise $150, and in the end I raised $205. That goes to World Vision who will use it to help the children in Bangladesh. I didn't find the famine too hard, but at the end of 17 hours I went to a birthday party that had yummy food. I stayed there for the last three hours of the famine and I just kept remembering that children needed my help and then I could say no to the food. My Mum and my Auntie did the famine too so that I wasn't the only one not eating but they didn't get sponsors.
